IDENTITY NOT DETECTED (WIP)
DOCUMENTARY PROJECT
Identity Not Detected (IND) is a hybrid documentary project about queer migration and homonationalism, consisting of a film and a new media zine. The film makes use of staged re-enactments and 3D animated simulations to portray the experiences of five trans/non-binary immigrants from different parts of the world. It addresses refuge, border control, community and integration by giving agency to a marginalized group that rarely gets to tell their own stories.
Accompanying the film, a zine of printed and digital ‘whispers’, featuring custom USBs, extended cuts, and resources, will be distributed. These whispers will consist of reflections of the cast and crew on migration, assimilation, and ostracization. Not only does this format offer a more intimate setting for topics that can not be shared on the big screen, it allows for public interaction, such as annotation and over-writing. This will make the resource accessible through a participatory and migratory zine.
